REVIEW : Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga- A good concept but a 'mind-shattering' execution

Shelly Chopra Dhar's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga takes up a good concept but fails at the execution. After watching the trailer, I was excited to see how this film holds itself with such a big range of actors and such a brave concept and as per my expectation , it failed terribly.

Sahil an aspiring play-writer and a son of a big producer is having hard luck in finding a story which will move the audience. Sweety (Sonam Kapoor) enters in the middle of his play. After a normal chit-chat Sahil is forced to run with Sweety to help her in escaping her brother. Sahil fells in love with Sweety, so he decides to take his play to her small town and after a long mess, Sweety confess that she is a lesbian. And then the second half is about the way her family gets to know about this affair in a unique way, planned by Sahil. The story is very predictable. Some scenes like jumping from the ticket-checking booth and not being stopped by station police master looked very silly. The second half is a bit impactful but takes a poor approach. Some things are pretty off about this movie. Like the childhood friend story of Sweety is shown in an incomplete manner. Monologue act looks quite over-dramatic.

Rajkumar Rao as Sahil is good at playing his role. I thought Sonam's acting improved from Neerja but she is back again at performing badly. Juhi Chawla is irritating sometimes and Anil Kapoor is just okay. Kuhu aka Regina Cassandra as Sweety's girlfriend has a very weak characterization. She doesn't get much dialogue. She doesn't even argues for her love to her girlfriend's family at all. She is just present in the background, acting bubbly and lovely when needed. Other actors are just normal, nothing worth mentioning about them. Cinematography is average. Direction is good at some points and bad at most places. The title song is soulful but the song 'Good Morning' is played throughout the movie which is very irritating.

Overall, this movie had a great concept but is portrayed very badly. Still can count for a watch for its social message.
