Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle streaming currently on Netflix is a wasteful attempt to revive a classic story. There are moments which might force you to reach the end of your streaming line. Also, the VFX used in the movie looks quite old and certainly does not lives up to the expectations of the viewers, who thought this movie would be a visual treat.
As most of us know the story of Mowgli and have seen plenty versions of it , this new version on Netflix isn't enthusiastic neither it contains some extraordinary VFX to look for, Director Andy Serkis’ Mowgli sets a story in a world full of danger, where learning to keep your guard up is a key lesson for survival. Andy Serkis doesn't depict this story to make you fall for the character, it is more concerned on showing the dangers of the jungle only. There is a confusion in the mind of Mowgli whether to stay in the jungle or in the village, but Shere Khan's continuous attacks on Mowgli leaves him no choice than to go to the village. But, during a little stay in the village , he comes to know about the cruelty of the man and the guilt of losing his friend makes him realize that he is meant to bring peace and rule the jungle.
Rohan Chand as Mowgli, though shows a bit of over-mature approach to his role but somehow fulfills the needs of his character. While the voice-over of Christian Bale as Bagheera, Andy Serkis as Baloo were top notch but Benedict's voice didn't suit Shere Khan at all. Cate Blanchett taking over Kaa's Voice was good as well. This version of Rudyard Kipling's classic story looks like a mix up of good and bad elements. Also there isn't a good tropic background score which is generally the most popular thing about these sort of movies.
Overall, Mowgli : The Legend Of The Jungle looks like a forceful attempt to mix cartoon like VFX into the real world VFX. So, just watch this one if you only want to relive your favorite childhood story , don't expect that much great VFX or a good storytelling done by The Jungle Book two years back.
