Malang Movie Review: Very predictable tale of madness and revenge with no thrill whatsoever.

In a scene, Anil Kapoor gets a fun interrogation sequence in which the other person doesn't know that Agashe was a police officer. The other person praises Agashe for his style to which Agashe replies " Kya Ghanta Style " ( What rubbish! This is no style) you can say that for the whole film the unnecessary neon lights usage, the colorful music festival is eye-catching and might appear stylish but it isn't. It is forced just like the thriller element in the plot"

The film starts in a prison where Aditya Roy Kapur is given a Punisher - jail fight like action-sequence, he tries to be Punisher ends up portraying a weak Daredevil with forced zoom-in-out camera shots. Even the main boss controlling the jail gang looks like Desi Wilson Fisk. As the movie progresses we get a glimpse of the life of Kunal Khemu who is a police detective named Michael Rodriguez and Anil Kapoor is portrayed as a mad police officer named Agashe which might be his favorite role ever. Aditya after his release, goes on a killing spree, he even challenges Agashe before every murder, Aditya as Advait remembers his quality time with Disha as Sara during killing his targets.

It is forced just like the thriller element in the plot. I might have been a little surprised and may not be able to guess the complete end if the trailer wasn't that revealing. But if you have watched the trailer, the movie is very predictable.

Imagine a movie called Ek Villain: Reprised Version that is Malang for you, the love story is similar, the motives are similar just one teeny-tiny difference which is very predictable and some madness of Anil Kapoor is unique for a Mohit Suri movie, but we have seen this craziness of Anil many times in bits and pieces. After the end, you will feel like the movie contradicts its own motive, the passionate killings, and Advait's remorse feels unnecessary. One of the characters suffers from impotence and the reason he makes for his impotence is actually laughable. Background score during kills and chases is irritating.

Kunal Khemu has the most interesting character in the film and he plays it in a very good manner. Anil Kapoor's craziness in comedy movies gets the taste of blood in this so-called thriller that's all. Disha Patani's voice looks dubbed, many times you can catch her lips moving faster than the words. Mohit Suri wants to use his one-time successful formula again in every movie I guess. GoPro camera utilization is limited but I am happy it is finally starting to get some use in Bollywood. Dialogues are very cliché and aren't well structured. As far as the music is concerned Chal Ghar Chalein is the only song to watch out for.

Overall, Malang is predictable and is a forcefully styled so-called thriller that contradicts its own targets with an end that can be seen from a mile away.
